  • Renown Health will be entering our health insurance plan, Hometown Health- into a joint venture with Kaiser Permanente. The transaction is anticipated to close in early 2026 following required regulatory approvals.

This collaboration strengthens our ability to keep care local, while bringing the scale, expertise, and innovation of a national leader. Together, we are ensuring that individuals, families, and employers across the state have more choices and better coverage.

 

  • Our shared purpose is to improve health and health care in northern Nevada. We believe Kaiser Permanente Nevada can improve the overall health of the communities we serve and create additional capacity to care for more people.

 

  • For now, there are no anticipated changes to the Hometown Health/Senior Care Plus team, plans, networks, contracts or points of contact.

 

  • Pending regulatory approval, the joint venture, called Kaiser Permanente Nevada, anticipates offering health plan coverage to employers and the people of northern Nevada starting with open enrollment in 2026 for plan year 2027.

  • Providing high-quality, affordable health insurance options for individuals, families, and employer groups;

 

  • Kaiser Permanente’s proven model of value-based care that delivers improved health outcomes;

 

  • Increased access to care through the expansion of local, statewide, and national provider networks;

 

  • Providing new self-service customer capabilities for members, employers, providers, and brokers;

 

  • Offering easy and intuitive self-service digital and web capabilities so members can manage their healthcare needs on their time;

 

  • Supporting education on all the advantages of the member benefits;

 

  • Promoting a healthy lifestyle through innovative health education programs and resources to help manage chronic conditions, with the goal of creating a healthier Nevada.
  • Kaiser Permanente anticipates offering health plan coverage to new members in northern Nevada starting with open enrollment in Fall 2026 for the 2027 plan year.

 

  • Kaiser Permanente Nevada will establish two new medical offices convenient to central and northern Reno, in addition to the existing Del Monte medical office, which will become part of Kaiser Permanente Nevada. Members and patients will access the diagnostic, pharmacy and ancillary services provided within our Kaiser Permanente locations.

 

  • Renown Health remains independent and will provide vital services to the joint venture’s health plan members through long-term contractual relationships. Renown Health will continue to accept all current health insurance plans for patient care and will be the Kaiser Permanente plan hospital system for Reno.
  • This agreement requires regulatory review and approval, a process which can take several months and is anticipated to conclude in 2026.

 

  • There are no immediate changes to Hometown Health and Senior Care Plus plans, networks or points of contact. Members will continue to receive the same excellent services.

 

  • After a transition period in 2026, Hometown Health operations will be rebranded to be Kaiser Permanente Nevada. Kaiser Permanente anticipates offering health plan coverage to new members in northern Nevada starting with open enrollment in Fall 2026 for the 2027 plan year.

 

  • Kaiser Permanente members will have access to Renown Health hospitals, including specialists, emergency departments, inpatient care, urgent care outpatient care and surgical care.
